What's brown and floats in the Enterprise toilet?

Captain's log.

Nice to have a chat the other day.. As things look now, we'll be staying in London from 18th to 21st August, and before that we'll be in Weymouth from the 14th. I'll call you when we get there to discuss you buying me a beer.

Things have been pretty uneventful here. Just trying to enjoy the weather and some time off, but can't find much energy for the blog at the moment.

Been following theboxandtheghostinit. Some rare treasure indeed.. It will take some time to digest. Also been listening to the Meat Sweats latest offering (got a copy from Rich a couple of weeks ago).

Have you heard this recent Flaming Lips project? A very decent collaborative re-tread of Floyd's DSOTM.

In other news, during our holiday we did as promised visit Alpo Koivumäki's 'Savannah' of reclaimed wildlife. Absolutely amazing! Although we got ravaged by mosquitoes the whole time we were there. It was nice to get some more detailed photos and see works in progress. Unfortunately the man himself wasn't there.

From there we went to St Olaf's (another one on the 'to-do list'), a Middle Age church which after a fire some years ago has not only been completely re-built, but the trustees had a brain fart and invited two of Finland's top contemporary painters to step in and decorate. The result is spectacular!

Check this clip.. It's in Finnish but who cares? The symbolism of the mural around the alter is explained by the artist as a depiction of the seven days of The Creation and man's banishment from paradise (the eye being sky god, with Adam and Eve as elephants). The upper tier of the gallery shows the Easter story in almost a comic strip format.

What's next, you ask? Well next we went to Nummijärvi for Taabor 10. An outdoor exhibition of Finnish outsider art collected from around the country.. Wow! The show included some of Alpo's animals as well as some experimental film and installation work from oddballs I'd never heard of.

And if all that isn't exciting enough for you..
